1972 - Louisville Care Center is built by the city
after concerned citizens express a need for nursing
home services in the community. The Care Center is
owned by the City of Louisville and operated by the
Care Center Advisory Board.
1990 - As changes evolved in the delivery of
services the City and the Care Center Advisory Board
again saw the need to improve services by adding a
new front entrance, administrative services area,
activity and chapel space, an addition to the dining
room, kitchen storage, maintenance services area,
and 6 private nursing home rooms.
2002 - A Community Attitude Survey indicates a
strong need for assisted living in the community as
well as skilled nursing services and Medicare
certification.
- The Advisory Board and the City Council respond
with a market assessment completed in 2003 and
updated in 2005 that demonstrates a need exists.
- The Advisory Board secures an architect, who
completes addition and remodeling plans and specifications.
2005 - Sixty-seven concerned citizens support a
petition calling for a special bond election. City
Council unanimously approves the Special Election.
ln June 2005, the Louisville Care Center became a Medicare certified skilled nursing facility. |
